Died, what many thinks a sorely felt premature death, at the peak of his power. He was in the middle of a much controversial and much loved novel on Ramkinkor Beij, the famous sculptor from Santiniketan. People still debate whether he was a better writer as "Samareah Basu" or as "Kalkut", his pseudonym.
